Fans choose their favorite players for a number of reasons, including productivity, work ethic, and personality. A great deal is known about many of the best players in the league. Here is a look at five little known facts about five NFL superstars.
Joe Flacco came out of nowhere to have a very successful rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. During that rookie season, Flacco had one of the more unusual stats for a quarterback in the league when he caught one pass for 43 yards.
Through the 2009 season, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has caught touchdown passes from six different quarterbacks: Kurt Warner, Josh McCown, Matt Leinart, Brian St. Pierre, John Navarre, and Shaun King.
When Brett Favre began his college career at the University of Southern Mississippi, not only was he playing at the only college that offered him a scholarship, he also was listed on the roster as the seventh string quarterback.
During the 2004 season, due to injuries to the University of Central Florida secondary, current Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall played not only his wide receiver position, but also filled in briefly at defensive back. Playing in seven games as a safety, Marshall ended up leading his team in tackles for the season. He also recorded a forced fumble and an interception.
The first touchdown Tom Brady ever threw in the NFL came in the second quarter of a 29-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers in October of 2001. The pass went for 21 yards and was completed to wide receiver Terry Glenn.
